about me

Hi! I’m Caleb Reske, a musician / sound enthusiast / plugin developer.

I have a background in Physics, and became fascinated a few years ago by the fact that there’s a 1:1 correspondence between math ideas and audio effects.

What do I mean by that? Well, when reperesented in a computer, audio is just a big list of numbers. These numbers are all between -1 and +1, and they literally tell the vibrating speaker membrane where to go at each point in time.

These numbers are read out, one by one, at ~48,000 times per second, and the speaker traces out the shape they make over time. Magically, this produces music.

even lists of numbers can make you feel things

So that means that anything you can think to do to a list of numbers is also an audio effect.

My process is always to start with a math idea—some idea about what to do to a list of numbers—and then code it up, and see what it sounds like. Usually, it sounds terrible. But sometimes, it sounds cool and new and even beautiful. I plan to find as many of these as possible.

If you buy my plugins: thank you, from the bottom of my heart. This is truly my passion and your support helps me make a living doing it. There’s nothing I’d rather be doing.

At least 10% of Nudist Audio profits will go to charity each year. In 2025, I donated to GiveDirectly, a fund that provides direct cash transfers to people living in extreme poverty.

I send out a short newsletter every month or so. Expect strange adventures and experiments with audio algorithms, sounds you’ve never heard before, new ideas for music-making, underground plugin recommendations, and more.
